NEW CITY - A homeowner say the postal service has suspended mail to her New City house because of her dog.

Emily Fabrizio says she was informed of her suspension by a letter from the post office on Tuesday.

Fabrizio says she would need to sign a statement guaranteeing her dog Leo would always be restrained during mail delivery. She refuses to sign the statement saying the suspension is unwarranted. “There's never been a time when Leo has tried to lunge at him, attack him, or attempt to bite him. It's never happened,” she says.

Fabrizio says she doesn't know when or if her service will be restored.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the postal service said safety is a top priority as 5,000 carriers are bitten by dogs each year in the U.S.
