SPRING VALLEY - An apparent fake bomb threat forced the evacuation of both Spring Valley High School and Village Hall Monday morning.

School officials say emergency procedures were put into effect at 8:15 a.m., shortly after several administrators and teachers received a threatening email against the school. Students were taken to buses across the street to stay warm.

The Rockland County Sheriff's Office says the county bomb squad was called in to investigate. They gave the "all-clear" shortly before 10 a.m., and students were allowed back into the building.

Just as police finished their sweep of the school, a second threatening email was sent to the Spring Valley Police Department at the village municipal complex on Route 45. The building was evacuated and a sweep was performed. Nothing was found, and the Village Hall reopened shortly after.

Police think the threats were a hoax and that someone got into one of the students' email account.  Police confirm that both threats apparently came from the same hacked account.

Officials say the the parties who were named in those emails have been vetted and were not involved.
