Business owners pick up the pieces after Newburgh fire

NEWBURGH - Business owners whose shops were destroyed by a fast-moving fire this morning are trying to figure out how to start picking up the pieces.Flames erupted at the Algonquin Plaza on South Plank Road in Newburgh this morning. Five shops were left as smoldering shells of what they once were. Lauren Fischer says she's worked at Monell's Camera shop for many years. She says she could hardly believe her eyes as she watched the thick smoke and flames pour from the building. "More than anything, I feel sorry for the fact there's so many people's personal memories in there that are irreplaceable," Fischer says. It's still not clear what caused the fire, but already, the shop owners who have lost everything are vowing to rebuild.
