MONSEY - A 20-year-old driver was injured when his car smashed into a utility pole in Monsey early this morning.

Police say the driver of a 2016 Nissan Sentra crashed into a pole on College Road around 2 a.m. The car suffered major damage, and the driver was taken to Nyack Hospital for neck pain.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but initial reports say alcohol was not a factor.

O & R Utility crews responded to the scene and repaired the damage to the pole.
