PORT CHESTER - A robber struck a Patriot National Bank in Greenwich, Connecticut Wednesday, then fled through Port Chester, stole a truck and sped away into New York City, according to police -- who continued to hunt for him into the night.

Police say that after the suspect crossed state lines, he crashed his escape vehicle and ran off on foot. He stole a black Chevrolet Silverado from a home on Alto Avenue in Port Chester.

The owner, Matthew Paladino, says he'd left his keys at home while going out for a bicycle ride. The suspect, he says, took them from inside his house and drove off.

"Once I realized that my keys were missing off the table, I looked outside, and the truck was gone," Paladino says.

Authorities used the truck's OnStar security system to track it to the Bronx.

Police say the suspect is a white male between 5 feet 5 inches tall and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He may or may not still be driving the black Silverado and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a winter hat.
