CORNWALL - Downed trees across the region caused power outages and a messy morning commute.

In Cornwall, Central Hudson Gas and Electric says more than 500 customers along Angola Road lost service this morning at around 7 a.m. because of the weather.

While the outages have been repaired, officials say there's no telling whether or not problems in the heavily wooded area will continue off and on as the bad weather progresses.

A rep for Central Hudson says about 200 customers in nearby Newburgh also lost power earlier, but service has also been restored there as well. The weather is also suspected in numerous accidents during the morning commute on I-84 at Route 9W and on the Palisades Parkway at Route 45.
