Ernie Davis sworn in as Mount Vernon mayor

MOUNT VERNON - Democrat Ernie Davis was sworn in again as the mayor of Mount Vernon.

The former mayor served for 12 years, but just reclaimed his post in the November election and tonight he was ushered in.

Hundreds of people packed into Macedonia Baptist Church in Mount Vernon on Sunday afternoon to celebrate Davis' fourth stint as mayor.

Officials say Davis' first week will be crucial as his administration needs to agree on a budget for 2012 as soon as possible.
