WHITE PLAINS - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a near-collision at the Westchester County Airport Sunday. FAA officials say two small planes nearly collided at the intersection of two runways after an air controller cleared one plane to take off and another to land. They say the arriving plane landed faster than expected and was on the ground before the other plane was through the intersection. Officials say a controller can clear two planes to land on intersecting runways, but the departing aircraft is supposed to be through the intersection before the other plane lands. The FAA has launched an investigation, and officials say corrective action will be taken if appropriate.
