Fire destroys South Salem couple's home for second time

SOUTH SALEM - A South Salem home was destroyed after a fire broke out earlier this afternoon.

Officials say the call came in at around 2 p.m. at the remote waterfront home at 81 Twin Lakes Road.

No one was injured in the fire, officials say.

Peter and Betty Traveyz say this is the second time they have lost a home to a fire at the same address. They say a similar experience happened in 1981.

The Traveyzs say that within minutes of tonight's fire, people started bringing them food, coats and gloves.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
