BARDONIA - Six families were displaced by a fire at a building in a Bardonia condominium complex Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say the flames broke out around 6:45 a.m. in an upstairs unit in Germonds Village. All the residents were able to get out safely.

They say two apartments were destroyed and four were damaged.

"I went into my living room to open up my vertical blinds, and right perpendicular to my apartment the whole roof was in flames,” says resident Valarie Viola.

Officials don't know how the fire started, but they say it does not appear suspicious.

Fire officials say having built-in fire walls helped keep the entire block of units from going up in flames.
