Heavy rains caused problems on the Saw Mill River and Bronx River parkways (4/21/15)

YONKERS - Floodwaters that forced the closure of many area roadways has receded, and two major parkways in the Hudson Valley are now reopened.

The Bronx River Parkway was under water Monday afternoon and overnight due to the heavy rains. The parkway reopened early this morning.

There were also problems on the Saw Mill River Parkway. The driver of a SUV skidded off the northbound side of the road and plunged into two feet of water in the rising river. An off-duty NYPD officer pulled over and got the two women inside the car to safety. Neither was hurt.

News 12 Meteorologist Brysen Van Eck says that even though the sun is coming out, some areas of standing water may make some areas slick and dangerous.
