WAYWAYANDA - Friends and family are mourning the deaths of a woman, her daughter and her niece after their deaths in a crash Wednesday on I-84 in Wawayanda.

Film actress Jesenia Valentin, 29, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, her 9-year-old daughter, Angelina, and 12-year-old niece, Asyria Ferrer, were killed in the crash.

Investigators say Valentin's car had run out of gas, and that she was on the phone calling 911 for help moments before the crash. About three minutes into the call, the line went dead, but not before the operator heard the impact of what turned out to be an Autozone tractor-trailer slamming into the back of Valentin's Volkswagen Passat. The truck pushed Valentin's car off the road, across the passing lane and into a grassy median.

There were also two dogs in the car, which died at the scene. Police say Valentin was driving down to her new home in Virginia at the time of the crash.

The truck driver, 52-year-old Gino Ruggerio, of Pennsylvania, says even though the car's hazard lights were on, he didn't realize that the car was at a complete standstill and was not able to stop in time. Ruggerio did not suffer any injuries. He is not expected to be charged with any crimes.

Valentin was set to appear at the premiere of her new movie, "Where Hearts Lie," next Tuesday in New York City. Her audition tape and behind-the-scenes footage will be shown before the premiere.
