TUXEDO - Parents and students fear George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo will close at the end of the school year after the state’s denial of an application for it to become a charter school.

The bid would have allowed the school to receive public funding while cutting ties from the Greenwood Lake School Board, which is no longer allowing its district students to choose Tuxedo as a high school option. Chester and Warwick high schools are now the only two options for district students.

News 12 reached out to administrators, but the school board declined to comment.

A public meeting on the issue will be held Wednesday night at the Greenwood Lake Middle School.
