Golden Gloves champion charged in out-of-the-ring fight in Nyack

NYACK - A Rockland County boxer is facing charges after allegedly throwing down outside of the ring.

Orangetown police say Max Tassy, 22, who won the Golden Gloves 201-pound novice division championship last year, was involved in a large brawl on Main Street in Nyack early Sunday morning.

Officers say they attempted to arrest Tassy, who lives just a few blocks away at Nyack Plaza Apartments, but the young fighter slapped away the arresting officer's hands and arms. That officer had to be taken to the hospital for an injury to his hand.

Tassy was eventually cuffed and charged with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
