NEW CITY - A Haverstraw father has been convicted in connection to the death of his infant daughter. Michal Aviles was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, but not guilty of murder in the death of his 5-month-old daughter, Michelle. The child's mother, Lisette Capellan, was found not guilty of all charges and released.

Police say the baby died in Jan. 2011 with fractures to her skull and ribs and bruises all over her body. The infant was allegedly beaten at least three hours before her parents took her to Nyack Hospital.
