WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton is calling on women to continue the push for gender equality.

The former presidential candidate addressed crowds at the Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards in Washington yesterday.

Clinton encouraged women to take an active role in making the future brighter. "I have never been more confident that we can take the next thing that comes along and move forward with optimism into a better future for women, for men for all human beings.”

Clinton was among this year's honorees at Vital Voices. She helped create the organization during her time as first lady.
