SPRING VALLEY - A Hillcrest man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed another man who was renting a room in his house.

Ramapo police were called to the home on Hazel Court just after 1 a.m.

Inside, they found Guerdy "Jimmy" Mauricette, 27, with several stab wounds. Authorities say he had wounds to his chest, head, ear and a deep gash in his leg.

Mauricette and his family were renting a room in the house apparently owned by the family of the suspect, 27-year-old Vladimir Alexis.

As police were tending to Mauricette, they got a call from the Spring Valley police, saying that a man had turned himself in for his involvement with the stabbing.

Vladimir Alexis, 27, was arraigned on attempted murder charges and is being held on $250,000 bail.

Mauricette is listed in serious condition at Nyack Hospital, but he is expected to survive.
