MOUNT VERNON - Drivers are dealing with higher prices at the pump this long holiday weekend.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas is now at $3.83 nationwide but Hudson Valley consumers pay a significantly higher rate.

AAA says the national price of gas jumped 5 cents from Tuesday to Wednesday due to Hurrican Isaac.

Police and New York State Thruway officials are reminding drivers that the Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year and to expect delays. More than 2.6 million vehicles were on the New York State Thruway last Labor Day weekend. AP wires were used in this report
