NYACK - The Hudson Valley is bracing for its first major snowfall of the winter.

DPW crews across the region are ready as hundreds of plows and salt trucks across the Hudson Valley are primed to hit the streets. "We have plenty of salt, and all the personnel are ready with their shifts, so we're good to go," says White Plains Deputy DPW Commissioner Stefania Mignone.

Crews in Yonkers says they will be plowing the main roads first, but will try and have the less traveled roads, with church and synagogues, cleared as early as possible.

Officials in New Rochelle say their community is at a greater risk than most areas because of high tide flooding from the Sound Shore. They tell News 12 all the boats are out of the water, and the harbor master will monitor the situation.

Supermarkets and hardware stores are telling News 12 they have seen a big increase in business as residents are making sure their pantries are stocked before the storm. “I'm just going to stay home. I have plenty of food for myself, plenty of things to do to keep myself entertained," says Carolyn Weeramantry, of White Plains.
