NYACK - The oppressive humidity that has gripped the Hudson Valley isn't leaving anytime soon.

News 12 Meteorologist Joe Rao says very humid airflow will return on Tuesday.

Rao says with the approach of a cold front from the west, the risk of showers and possible strong thunderstorms will increase. Highs should be in the muggy mid-80s.

The front will be to the east early Wednesday, allowing for a return to somewhat less oppressive conditions to return for the balance of the week, although it will be unseasonably warm with highs well into the 80s.

It should also be dry and no worse than partly sunny through the balance of the week.

Right now, the weekend looks moderately warm and muggy, with a chance of scattered showers late Sunday.
