SPRING VALLEY - Hundreds of people united at Ramapo High School on Monday to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Every organization at the event said they support the late Dr. King's beliefs. Dolores Baldasare, a member of the Rockland Coalition to End the New Jim Crow, says she's pushing for justice for black people in the US.

Marc Pessin helped organize the unity celebration to encourage others to stay informed of social issues.

A marching band and various speeches made it an uplifting and memorable experience.

"In this event, we're saying not only black lives matter, but they should be celebrated," said Pessin.
