NEW CITY - The repeated snowfall is burying hydrants, creating fire hazards across the region.
It’s the responsibility of the homeowner or business closest to a hydrant to keep it clear of snow.
Anyone who neglects to clear a hydrant risks a modest fine, depending on local policy. But that penalty isn’t the only reason to get out and shovel the mounds away.
