Judith Kennedy will remain mayor of Newburgh. Kennedy beat out her fierce Democratic challenger, Jonathan Jacobsen, as well as underdog Republican John Guidice.

NEWBURGH - Judith Kennedy will remain mayor of Newburgh.

Kennedy beat out her fierce Democratic challenger, Jonathan Jacobsen, as well as underdog Republican John Guidice.

Kennedy won by just about 100 votes.

On Wednesday, the mayor said she's relieved and looking forward to several improvements, including development, housing and crime.

Two new council members were also elected last night - Torrence Harvey and Hillary Rayford.  Kennedy said she has personally welcomed and is looking forward to working with both of them.
