NEWBURGH - In Rockland County, the Democratic incumbent Sheriff Louis Falco defeated Republican Woodbury Police Chief Richard Vasquez in the race for Rockland Sheriff Tuesday night.

Falco has been the Rockland County sheriff for the past four years.

The job not only involves being the county's top police officer, but also running the County Jail.

Vasquez, the police chief in Woodbury, was suspended from his post for insubordination, but some town officials say it was for taking too much time away from his position to campaign.
