Man fatally struck by train in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY - A 37-year-old man is dead after officials say he was hit by a train on the Pascack Valley Line this morning.

New Jersey Transit officials say a train was leaving the Spring Valley train station just before 6 a.m. when it hit the victim on the tracks. It is unknown why the man was on the tracks.

There were 10 passengers and crew on board. No one was hurt.

Service on the Pascack Valley line was suspended in both directions until the scene was cleared after 8:30 a.m.
