GOSHEN - A Goshen homeowner managed to get his family and dog to safety as a fire over the weekend destroyed his home on Northgate Road.

Homeowner Barry Terach says he noticed gasoline leaking from a vintage car he had idling in his garage. He says it caught fire when he turned off the car.

Terach says he safely got his wife and three teenage children out, and then ran in to save their dog before help arrived.

About a dozen fire departments helped to extinguish the flames.

The fire destroyed the Goshen family’s house and three cars.

Terach was treated for smoke inhalation but is OK along with the rest of his family.
