PEARL RIVER - Police have issued an alert for parents in Pearl River after a man tried to lure a young boy into his car.

The father of the child says his son was standing in his driveway waiting for his school bus yesterday morning when a man pulled up in a silver four-door car. He had a small white dog in the passenger seat and motioned for the boy to come over.

The child didn't approach the stranger, and the driver sped off after spotting the boy’s mother.

The boy’s parents say it’s important to educate kids about “stranger danger.” “Just pay attention and see what's going on. Know the kids in the neighborhood, that way, you can protect them,” says father Kevin Regan.

Orangetown police are investigating and ask that anyone with information call 845-359-3700.
