MARLBORO - A Hudson Valley teacher is accused of putting his hands on a student at Marlboro Middle School.

Officials say Bernard Rafferty, the teacher, was arraigned Tuesday night on a charge of second-degree harassment, a violation, for allegedly shoving a seventh-grade boy and forcing him into a classroom by the throat.

The mother previously claimed her son had two slipped discs in the incident.

Rafferty is due back in court in January.
