MIDDLETOWN - Voters in Middletown approved a budget Tuesday to shut down Truman Moon Elementary School in Middletown.

As many as 10 district staff members will lose their jobs as a direct result of the $161 million budget plan that was approved Tuesday night.

Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Eastwood stands by the plan and says the decision will not hurt the kids.

Truman Moon students will be split up among three other district elementary schools - with class sizes expected to be around 20 kids.

School board officials said they would also close summer school sessions for other elementary and middle school students in the district.

It's not clear what jobs will be cut, but Eastwood says at-risk staff have been notified and are those with the least time in the district.
