MONTEBELLO - Officials say a Montebello man is recovering tonight after being bit by a rattlesnake.

Veterinarian Mark Lermam says that rattlesnakes in the Hudson Valley are much more common than people think.

Lermam warns people to not take a rattlesnake bite lightly and go to the hospital right away. A healthy adult who is bitten could become extremely sick and lose a limb.

The veterinarian says residents should be on alert because rattlesnakes are out and about during this time of the year, stocking up on sun before the season ends.
