MOUNT VERNON - Mount Vernon held its first fireworks show in more than 60 years Thursday night.

Hundreds of parents and kids packed the field of Mount Vernon High School for the city's official kickoff to summer.

In addition to fireworks, children had the opportunity to show off their jumping skills in a bouncy house.

Mayor Richard Thomas says he's proud to see that Mount Vernon is "coming back together and having quality of life improve."
