The Mount Vernon community came out to the Old Village Green this morning to celebrate Independence Day.

MOUNT VERNON - The Mount Vernon community came out to the Old Village Green this morning to celebrate Independence Day. 

The celebration included local lawmakers reading the Declaration of Independence and giving speeches. They talked about America's forefathers and working together to make Mount Vernon a better place.

The event ended with a bell salute to the original 13 colonies.
