MOUNT VERNON - More than 1,000 staff members welcomed the new superintendent to the Mount Vernon School District today.

Dr. Kenneth Hamilton's new role as superintendent puts him in charge of about 9,000 students in Mount Vernon. Dr. Hamilton says that he plans to be very present in all classrooms and has positive ideas that will get the school year off to a great start.

Students in Mount Vernon will begin classes tomorrow.

Dr. Hamilton says he plans to make a trip to each school to welcome back the students.
