WHITE PLAINS - A fugitive from New City is expected in court after allegedly trying to flee the country on Saturday.

Police say Clifford Perkins, 27, of New City, is scheduled to face a judge in Westchester County Court today after being arrested at LaGuardia Airport.

Prosecutors say Perkins failed to appear in court for sentencing earlier this month on a criminally negligent homicide charge stemming from a 2014 fatal crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway. Perkins was driving at least 82 mph on his motorcycle when he hit a Mazda, sending it careening into the guardrail before it collided with a second motorcycle, driven by 45-year-old Scott Phillips, of New Jersey. Phillips, an aspiring rapper with the Trenton trio “Poor Righteous Teachers,” was killed in the incident.

At the time, Perkins was driving with a revoked and suspended state license. He later pleaded guilty to the crime. Perkins was facing four years in prison.

Perkins is being held at Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
