ORANGEBURG - An interstate police chase that originated in New Jersey came to an end in Rockland County Wednesday afternoon.

Officers in Elmwood Park tailed alleged suspect Peter Denicola. The Stony Point resident was driving a Honda Pilot SUV that had been reported stolen recently in Haverstraw.

The chase ended up on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Orangeburg, where the SUV crashed into a tree near Exit 6E.

Denicola was taken into custody. Police are investigating whether he was or wasn't under the influence of a substance.
