NEWBURGH - More than 40 Newburgh police officers were honored Thursday for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Among the honorees was Police Officer Brandon Rola, who was attacked and injured while trying to make an arrest last weekend. Rola is also considered a community hero after saving two young cousins who were buried alive in a snowbank in November.

Rola said he is proud to be part of such a distinguished group of law enforcement.

In addition to the officers, a sherriff's deputy was also honored.
