TARRYTOWN - The new Tappan Zee Bridge project may finally secure federal funds after the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) votes on Monday.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef and Putnam County's MaryEllen O'Dell have announced their support for the project. They represent three of nine members of the NYMTC.

The NYMTC vote was canceled in July by Astorino, who wanted more provisions in the plan to make way for mass transit. The new span is now expected to include immediate dedicated bus lanes, as well as possible commuter rail space. Astorino says he doesn't anticipate any issues when the votes are cast.
