GOSHEN - A deal was reached Friday between residents and Orange County regarding cancer-causing water.

Stephanie Cockburn spoke to News 12 months ago about the contaminated water. Her attorney, David MacCartney, said that Orange County agreed to pay homeowners $1.5 million. They also agreed to give them clean water because theirs is contaminated with "MTBE," a gasoline additive.

Cliff Bartley, who also spoke to News 12 months ago, had wells contaminated by leaks in fuel tanks at two nearby DPW yards. Their dirty water has allegedly caused serious illnesses, killed pets, plants and forced them to buy bottled water for years.

"Now, there's a light at the end of the tunnel," he said.
