SPARROWBUSH - An Orange County community is coming together to help a terminally ill young boy.

At first glance, Carter, of Sparrowbush, appears to be just like any other jolly 4-year-old around the holidays. But his mother Stacie says the boy has a rare genetic disease called adrenoleukodystrophy, which causes the brain to shut down.

While Stacie is trying to focus on her family, friends and the community are helping out by trying to cover some medical costs.

A GoFundMe page set up Saturday night to help cover medical expenses has already raised more than $5,000.

Carter has also received help from the local radio station, which donated a $500 gift card, and the Toys for Tots program.
