GOSHEN - Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus unveiled his 2016 budget tonight.

News 12 sat down with him to go over his $725 million budget for next year.

He says the budget cuts spending by millions and uses less reserve funds through retirement incentives, renegotiated contracts and a bit of creative thinking.

He says he may have a way to stop spending millions of dollars a year to subsidize Valley View, which he thinks is more attractive and will bring in more patients.

Neuhaus says the county is in talks to create a private health care and senior housing complex on the grounds of the cash-strapped Goshen facility.

Neuhaus hopes the possible revenue, along with other improvement projects, will keep Orange an attractive and affordable place to live.

The Orange County Legislature has until Nov. 15 to pass the budget.
