MIDDLETOWN - A Middletown parent says fake safety threats at school are impacting students.

The parent says that when kids are forced to huddle in classrooms during a lockout or lockdown, some of the children have urinated in their pants, gone to the bathroom in waste baskets and have thrown up because they are so nervous.

There's been nearly a dozen so-called swatting incidents that have put Middletown schools on lockdown or lockout since the start of the school year, including two this week.

While the FBI is investigating, local officials like Wallkill Supervisor Dan Depew say they are just as frustrated by the difficult-to-trace computer-generated calls.

"They're not doing what they need to do to secure our children. Period, " he says.
