RAMAPO - State Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski introduced a bill Wednesday that would stiffen penalties for inspectors who overlook problems by giving the state the power to revoke their licenses.

Zebrowksi says his plan is a direct result of the investigation into fire inspector Adam Peltz in the Town of Ramapo.

Peltz is accused of ignoring hazardous violations at private schools and yeshivas.

Ramapo's Town Board will vote Wednesday evening on Peltz’s fate.

Sources say they expect Peltz to be punished with a 60-day suspension, during which he won't be paid.

Some residents say they want him fired.

"This is life and death," says Rudy Dent, a former FDNY firefighter from New Hempstead. "What are we waiting for? Until someone dies? And if someone dies, those who were in position of power should be held accountable."
