MIDDLETOWN - Ramapo investigators say they've interviewed and cleared three young men in connection with a Middletown man's death last week.

The three had been seen near the site of the incident, but police say they do not believe the men had any knowledge of the death of Ossen Lavaud, 48.

Lavaud's body was found next to his burning Ford Taurus on June 21 on a dirt road in Sloatsburg’s Waldron Terrace.

Police say the three men are no longer considered witnesses and had no information about the case.

"They didn't witness anything and had no involvement whatsoever," says Ramapo Police Sgt. Brian Corbett.

He says the case remains classified as suspicious.

Lavaud was a father of two boys. His estranged wife says the two had marital troubles. She had taken out a restraining order against him.

Police have not said whether they have any suspects or leads. They are waiting for the results of an examination by the Rockland County medical examiner.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Ramapo police.
