SPRING VALLEY - Ramapo police say they have arrested three more people that were in a U-Haul that smashed into a Spring Valley home while fleeing police early Monday morning.

Police say they received a call around 3 a.m. from a Dolson Road resident that men were stealing the two motorcycles from the front of his property with a U-Haul truck. When police found the truck in question, they say the driver took off at a high rate of speed. Eventually the truck crashed into the side of a house on Zuba Lane and West Eckerson Road.

The driver fled the scene, but police found Karl Lapeine, 19, of Spring Valley, and Ely Portillo-Mendoza, 16, of New Hempstead, in the back of the truck. Police eventually caught Raquan Shakil Jordan, 27, Spring Valley, who is suspected of driving the U-Haul. They also arrested Mark Anthony Garcia, 19, and James Grey, 22, both of Spring Valley. All the suspects are facing multiple charges, including grand larceny.

The truck took out the corner of the house, which is used as a laundry room. No one was home at the time of the crash. There was a natural gas leak, and the fire department and utility company crews were called in to shut the gas and electricity off.

All of the suspects are currently being held in Rockland County Jail.
