Police ID man poisoned in Ulster County

Police identified Tuesday the man allegedly killed with poisoned alcohol and prescription drugs in Ulster County.

They say John Owings, 65, was living with his accused killer, 62-year-old Solane Verraine, for the past two years after meeting online.

PHOENICIA - Police identified Tuesday the man allegedly killed with poisoned alcohol and prescription drugs in Ulster County.

They say John Owings, 65, was living with his accused killer, 62-year-old Solane Verraine, for the past two years after meeting online.

According to authorities, Verraine called police Sunday night, telling them that Owings was dead in their apartment. They say she also confessed to the crime.

Police say the motive is unclear, but they are investigating the possibility that it was an assisted suicide.
