Police say a young boy was playing outside his house when a man driving a white luxury vehicle drove into the driveway and asked the boy if he wanted to go to the park. (Credit: News 12 )

WEST NYACK - Parents are on high alert after police say a man tried a lure a young boy into his SUV in West Nyack Monday.

Police say a 5-year-old boy was playing in his front yard on Marycrest Road when the suspect drove his white SUV into the driveway and asked the boy if he wanted to go to the park. The boy ran inside the house and told his mother and when she came back out, the man took off.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged man with a mustache. Police have searched the neighborhood, but have not turned up any leads.

Some school districts in Rockland County have issued alerts to parents, encouraging them to review safety rules about strangers with their children.
