VALHALLA - A 6-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital today after police say his mother struck him with an SUV in their Armonk driveway. Authorities say the boy was coming home from school when he was hit by the SUV and his mother frantically called police for help. The boy's injuries were so severe that emergency responders did not wait for a helicopter and he was taken by ambulance with a police escort to Westchester Medical Center. Police say the boy was awake and able to speak, but has serious injuries.

Doctors say the boy is expected to survive. Investigators say they are not yet sure what caused the accident, but that the mother is not facing charges.
