Police: Shoplifting mom left baby at CVS

RAMAPO - Two Rockland women accused of shoplifting at a Ramapo CVS pharmacy were in court this morning. One of the women, Shanavia Labbey, of Spring Valley, allegedly left her baby outside of the store as she tried to run from police. Investigators say the mother had previously been arrested three times for stealing. Police say Labbey and her friend, Gabrielle Extanus, tried to use a baby carriage to carry stolen merchandise out of the store on Old Nyack Turnpike. A judge has ordered Child Protective Services to report on the Labbey family situation. Both women are due back in court next month.Spring Valley mom charged with child abandonment
