PEEKSKILL - A Peekskill man is suspected in a string of supermarket robberies across Westchester.

Police say Calvin Diggs, 50, may be responsible for three robberies in the past week. The latest occurred Tuesday night at the Shop Rite on East Main Street in Cortlandt Manor. Authorities found Diggs at the Watergate Motel in Cortlandt shortly after the incident.

Officials say Diggs was also caught on surveillance video taken during a robbery last Wednesday at the Peekskill Stop & Shop on East Main Street.

Diggs is also a suspect in another Peekskill robbery at the Key Food Supermarket on Welcher Avenue Saturday night.

Police did not say how much was taken in Tuesday night’s robbery. They said over $1,100 was taken in the previous two robberies. They say Diggs did not show a gun but handed a note to cashiers demanding money.

Diggs has been charged with third-degree robbery, with additional charges pending.
