HAVERSTRAW - Haverstraw police say a man suspected of killing his daughter-in-law may still be alive and on the loose more than three years after the manhunt to find him began.

Eugene Palmer, who was 73 at the time, is wanted in the September 2012 shooting death of Tammy Palmer in Haverstraw. Friday marked three years since Eugene Palmer disappeared into Harriman State Park, leading to a massive search.

Palmer's family has said they believe that he died due to health issues and a lack of medicine. However, police stress that no remains were ever found.

"We have no evidence whatsoever that would indicate that he is not alive," says Haverstraw Police Detective George Lutz. "Our investigation is ongoing and it's continuous."

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information in the case. Anyone with details on Palmer's possible whereabouts is also urged to call the Haverstraw Police Department.
